"It's not as though we had time to change." Charon said mildly, with a gesture to himself and his brother who both happened to be missing the same notable article of clothing. He just didn't think it was fair of Rita to be disgusted with the other man over partying. Dominic looked at him and quickly looked away, but Charon hadn't missed it and spared the other man a small smile and wave.
"Anyways. What the heck is all this?" Brand said. Charon appreciated his brother getting to the point. All of this was just a little too weird for him to make sense of at the moment. Aya, standing by her stack of books, was wringing her hands and looking between all of them worriedly.
"You were all called here because your city, and maybe the whole world is in danger. We needed a selection of people capable of protecting the innocents and stopping the people attacking them. All five of you were carefully chosen for the qualities you possess." Tristan said.
"Brand, the swordfish, chosen for your physical strength and compassionate nature. Allan, the donkey, chosen for your steadfastness and calm, Aya, the monkey, quick and clever, Charon, the lion, vicious but loyal, and Dominic, the turtle, chosen for your leadership skills and your critical thinking. You are all here for a reason. Your home needs you to defend it from danger and save the lives of many."
"That head in a jar is talking to me." Charon said whispered quuietly to Brand. Brand tried not to laugh but had to smile.

"It's okay." Allan said reassuringly to Charon "I'm not sure if it's my vomit anyway."
"Well we weren't expecting a laser skeleton attack either." R.I.T.A mumbled to herself almost bitterly and was glad she didn't possess the ability to properly portray emotion, otherwise her facial expression would give away some sort of guilt when Tristian uttered the words "carefully chosen." Right, of course, exactly. The creme de la creme hand picked by herself. Hero material.
Dom also didn't seem to impressed by his team mate, and rolled his eyes, although it could have been at anything at this point. His mood was greatly improved by the prospect of leadership and the chance to make a difference, and the flattery definitely helped. Critical thinker? He thought so to, although the acts that led to his injury would state otherwise...
He'd change that.
"Of course." R.I.T.A dismissed Charon's comment about Tristian, it was clear she was eager to carry on and get this over with. "You will draw your power from the animals of the earth you've sworn to protect, these are your power morphers."
In a flash of light a strange sort of clip or buckle with a golden coin in the center appeared in their hands magically. "When in danger, raise your morpher to the sky and you will morph into a Power Ranger. You will have access to a universal power and command a fleet of fighting machines called Zords."

Tristan gave them hardly any time to comment. "If you will approach the viewing globe, you will see what it is that threatens your city." He said. "A threat that normal humans could not hope to deal with on their own."
"That's a skeleton shooting lasers out of it's eyes." Aya looked over top of her books and spoke quietly, not out of nervousness so much as sheer incredulous at what she was watching. It was exactly as she described it. Sure, it looked like people were getting hurt, there were screams and fire and blood, but... That was still a laser skeleton in a hat and cape.
Charon looked to Brand, met his eyes, and quickly shook his head. "Normally I'd jump at the chance to pick a fight, but I can't. We can't. We already have a responsibility." Brand looked at him for a second, confused, and then caught on. "Oh, man, I forgot... I mean, I didn't forget forget but..." Charon shook his head.
"Sounds calloused but that's more important. We're out. The rest of you are going to have to make up your own mind." He sighed, scowling a little, and shook his head. "I take it that's the door. See you all around I guess, and good luck." He meant it, he really did.
Maybe Brand felt bad because he didn't say anything, he just followed behind his slightly shorter brother and looked back at the group only once before they disappeared down the hallway and out the door.

"That's a skeleton shooting lasers out of it's eyes.""
"Ho damn." Allan exclaimed and leaned over casually to get a look at the skeleton on the viewing globe. Yep, that was it, all right, in a feathered cap too. He observed it with such nonchalance that made it very clear that he had no intention of interfering. He just thought it was kind of neat, and more importantly, not in his neighbourhood.
Dom looked at the group with disbelief. Leaving. His first day of leadership and his team was leaving. With a laser skeleton rampaging the town that they exclusively could handle, that seemed a little cold. Then again, this wouldn't be the first time he was disappointed by people's behaviour. he will learn.
He hung his head and sighed heavily, reaching for his crutches and making a show of limping slowly towards the door, to give them enough time to protest or at least feel a bit bad about his going alone before he got to the door. "Thanks." He said it with such despondence that you could almost hear him saying "I'm going to need it"
"You're going alone?" R.I.T.A asked perplexed.
Out of everyone there, he hadn't expected the one not designed to feel human emotion to fall for it, but he'd take what he could get.
"I kind of have to..."

Charon stopped Brand by the door.
I can't let him do this by himself.
Brand looked at him sternly.
Yeah, but we can't help. What if-
Charon bit his lip and sighed.
But it isn't right...
The conversation didn't last very long, a few hurried, nearly silent seconds of argument between the two brothers. Brand was urging them to leave. Charon couldn't pull himself away. Yeah really he shouldn't want to help but he had to, didn't he?
Just today. He insisted. People are dying, we have to do something.
“We're going to stay and help.” Charon turned around, looking between R.I.T.A and Dom. He looked nervous but determined. Brand looked the same, and maybe also annoyed.
Aya now could no longer get through the doorway, being as both boys were in front of it. Brand moved to step aside, but Charon didn't. Instead he just smiled at her and shrugged. “Why not? I mean, saving someone's life might feel pretty neat.”
Aya hesitated. She had never saved a life before. Maybe he was right. “I think... I think I am going to stay and help too.” Her voice was quiet but unwavering. Charon grinned, looped an arm around her shoulder and one around Brand's, dragging them back to where Dom was. Then, looking over to Allan's retreating form.
“Hey, you coming too?” He asked.
